About Electric Furnaces

ELECTRIC FURNACES: use internal blowers to move air through heated coils and then into your home.  The coils are known as elements and consist of different sized electric resistance coils.  It is a safe and clean burning system.  There are a wide number of choices in models and brands.  Electric furnaces are usable wherever electricity is available to the home.

Electric furnaces come in a variety of sizes to handle the different square footage of each home.

Many furnaces are dual systems that use two methods.  An oil-electric furnace uses the electric elements most of the time and the oil system kicks in when needed for peak heating needs.  Most often, electric furnaces are combined with heat pump systems.

About Heat Pumps

HEAT PUMPS:  use one of the most available energy resources there is in order to heat the air in your home, the ground beneath our feet.  Instead of using energy to heat coils for the air to blow through, the systems uses the warmth of the earth to heat the air.

The earth itself provides an energy heating source that is warmer than the temperature above ground during the cold season.  Geothermal Heat pumps are built to utilize this resource.

Ground source heat pumps can be categorized as having closed or open loops and can be installed either horizontally, vertically, or in a pond or lake.

There are basically two types, open or closed loop geothermal heat pump systems.  Which type is best depends on the terrain of the land available.  Soil and rock types are taken into consideration.  Those and other factors determine which system for the ground loop is most economical.

On closed loop systems, the water or antifreeze solution is circulated in the pipes that are buried in the earth.

Open loop systems discharge the water.  This system is placed where there is a suitable supply of water available and the discharge is feasible.
